James Moses Wright was born in Georgia in 1846. In 1849-1850, his family was traveling from Georgia in a covered wagon. Several members of the wagon train became stricken with cholera and died, including James Moses. He died near Trenton (now Monroe), Louisiana, and according to information passed down through family, he was buried there in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, at an unknown location along the bank of the Ouachita River. The group had intended to travel on to Texas, but instead settled near Vienna, Louisiana.
