Mrs. Mary Kuhn, wife of Josiah K. Kuhn died Friday morning July 8 at 11:30 o'clock at St. Joseph's Hospital at Chippewa Falls.

Mary Weimer was born in Indiana May 5 1856. In the year 1889 was united in marriage to Mr. Kuhn and for several years there after they made their home in Indiana. But for the last 27 years they have resided in this section of Wisconsin the old home being two and one fourth miles east of the Brethren Church at Maple Grove.

In her marriage to Mr. Kuhn she became the stepmother of four children and to their union were born six of the ten children there were four sons and six daughters. Eight of them are living and are left sorrowful with the father for the absence of her who was queen of the home.

The children are: Mrs. Clarence Miller of Stanley: Mrs. Joseph Mitchell of Syracuse, Ind: Perry Kuhn of Stanley: Mrs. Henry Longfellow of La Crosse Wis: Mrs. Arthur Gustafson of Big Falls Minn: and Orpha, Lawrence and Murville, residing at home. All were present at the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Mitchell.

Mrs. Kuhn was a very industrious woman and with it all was remarkably cheerful. Her life was spent, as most good mothers are, in the quiet ministry of homemaking. She rightfully loved her home and family above all else earthly, yet was unselfish truly and was considerate of others to the extent of making many friends. Mrs Kuhn was a good Christian woman her membership being with the Church of Christ.

The funeral was held here in the city Monday afternoon from the Church of the Brethren. The Pastor Rev. Ralph G. Rarick officiated and spoke from the text of Psalm 35:14 " I bowed down heavily as one that mourneth for his mother" He said it implied that the bereaved in a peculiar manner, and that the loss of her is among the heaviest of sorrows. So it was in theme "The Peculiar Bereavement".

Note: Mary was the daughter of Cyrus Weimer and Mary Miller of the east side of Webster Lake, Indiana. Not mentioned in this obit is Mary's firstborn, Lulu, who was born out of wedlock in 1877 but loved and raised by Mary's family in Indiana. Lulu Weimer Howell 1877-1941 buried at Salem Cemetery, Noble Co., Indiana.FAG #37156071
