Josiah Kuhn passed away at his home south of the city on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, after an illness of three days of heart trouble. He had been very active and in good health until Sunday which was quite remarkable as he was nearly eighty-seven years of age.
He was born in Ohio October 1, 1848. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to Indiana where he lived until 35 years ago when he came to the Stanley Country and settled on a farm. He was married to Miss Eva Shock who passed away in 1888. A few years later he married Miss Mary Weimer who preceded him in death, several years ago.
Nine children were born, eight of whom are living, Elizabeth (Mrs. Clarence Miller) of this city, Myrtle (Mrs. Joe Mitchell) and Perry Kuhn of the Stanley country, Lily (Mrs. Will Rothenberger) of Syracuse, Indiana: Orpha (Mrs. Emil Kroening) of Minneapolis, Mabel (Mrs. A. E. Gustafson) of Pine City Minnesota and Lawrence and Murville Kuhn of Knapp. Eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon at the Brethren Church, Rev Lewis Hyde officiating.
Note: Burial at Oakland Cemetery in Stanley confirmed by the Chippewa County Genealogical Society in Jan. 2014.
