Bertha Nitche and her husband immigrated from Oberthomasdorf, Austria. David arrived on the Kaiser Wilhelm II ship from Bremen to NYC on May 10, 1905. His passenger ship information shows he was 33 when he arrived here. They settled initially in Instander close to Wilcox, PA. That area was flooded when a dam created the East Branch Clarion River Lake. They then moved to Johnsonburg, PA.
Bertha and David had two daughters, Emma and Marie. He is buried in the Holy Rosary section of the Wardvale Cemetery in Johnsonburg, PA
