Bertha Nitche and her husband immigrated from Oberthomasdorf, Austria. Bertha arrived on the Kronprinz Wilhelm ship from Bremen to NYC on Sept 28, 1873 with their two daughters. Her passenger ship information shows she was born in Schleisien and was 36 when she arrived here. They settled initially in Instander close to Wilcox, PA. That area was flooded when a dam created the East Branch Clarion River Lake. They then moved to Johnsonburg, PA.
Bertha and David had two daughters, Emma and Marie. Bertha passed away at her daughter, Marie Allen's home, of a cerebral hemorrhage.
