Alberta Bufkin, Age 81, departed this life Thursday, February 2, 1989, in Lee Memorial Hospital, Dowagiac, Michigan.

Mrs. Bufkin was born August 4, 1907, in Madison Parish, LA to the late Edgard Fletcher and Sara Minor.

She was united in Holy Matrimony February 3, 1930, in Sharkey County, MS to Theodore Bufkin who survives. Also surviving are seven daughters, China Curtis and Marion Goins, both of Cincinnati; Delores Slaughter and Thelma Elizabeth White, both of Dayton, Ohio; Dorothy Pittman of Elkhart; Frankie Mae Kelly and Charles Ray Collins, both of Cassopolis; four sons, Theodore Bufkin, Jr. of Grand Rapids; Leonard Bufkin of Elkhart; Rev. Rayvon Bufkin of Niles and Russell Orick of Dowagiac; 69 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucy Bell Ross or Elkhart. Three sons, J. C. Dorsey, Ples Dorsey, and Marvin Bufkin, and a brother, Willie Williams preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bufkin joined church at the age of 10, and in 1954 she moved to Cassopolis where she Joined the Chain Lake Baptist Church. She was a mother of the church and a member of the Missionary Society.
