PA Certificate of Death: Date of Birth - 7/31/1866

On Dec 7, 1909, the spirit of Maggie Evelyn, the beloved wife of George Baily, left the clay tenement to worship at a shrine not made with hands after an earthly journey of forty three years. On Dec 9 religious services were held at the home, conducted by her pastor, Rev H G McCool, when she was consigned to her last resting place, in the Laurel Point cemetery at Carmichaels. She is survived by her husband and the following childred, Alma Lee, John Gaddis, Robert Wesley, Paul Lynch and Harriet Evelyn, and two brothers, John and Harry Lynch, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Hutchison, all of McKeesport, PA, which was her home until her marriage, which took place February ll, 1891. She resided near Carmichaels for a number of years, in what was once the home of Robert McMinn, one of the finest localities in Cumberland township. She had for many years been a faithful member of the New Providence church, an earnest and faithful christian. When she knew her life was drawing to a close she expressed herself as willing to depart and be with her savior she had loved and honored for many years, but hoped that she might be spared to see her children reach manhood and womanhood, but committing them into the hands of her Heavenly Father, she passed peacefully away. She was also identified with the Carmichaels WCTU, but on account of home duties and cares seldom met with the ladies at their regular monthly meeting. The Bailys came from Chester county in early times, when the Indian war-whoop was heard where Carmichaels now stands. They were originally of the Quaker faith, but as the years swept along became identified with other denominations, a number becoming members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, others with the New Providence church, the late Ellis B Baily being a ruling elder in that church for many years. The deceased was a niece of John Lynch, who for many years kept hotel in Carmichales when Greene Academy was a flurishing school.
