MUSCATINE, Iowa - James H. Sywassink, 91, of Muscatine, died Saturday at Lutheran Homes. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday.
He married Ruth Froehner in 1928 in Muscatine. She died March 14, 1995. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Farm Bureau. He farmed all his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Lutheran Homes or the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Pauline (Mrs. Ed) Philgreen, Washington, Iowa, and Marion (Mrs. Wilbur) Hetzler, Muscatine; a son, Paul, Muscatine; 12 grand-children; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrta (Mrs. Robert) Kaufman, Gertrude Sywassink, Della Althaus, all of Muscatine, Mary Peck, Des Moines, and Esther Sywassink, Garnet, Kan.; brothers, Albert, Wilton, and Harry, Muscatine.
