Alveriah L. (Canamore) Dreiszus, 87, passed peacefully December 30, 2014, in Ashland, Ore.

She was born in Brookland, Ark. May 8, 1927.

'Al', as she was known, lived in Ashland for 50 years. When she was 19, she traveled by train for four days from Arkansas to join her mother in Vancouver, Wash. That is where she met and married Howard L. Dreiszus, July 17, 1948. He has preceded her in death.

Between marriage and settling in Ashland, Al and Howard owned and operated various business ventures in Portland, Brookings, and Moscow, Idaho. In the Rogue Valley, they owned and operated several restaurants and bars.

Al was a homemaker and a partner to her husband, working hard to make a good home life and successful businesses. They loved to travel and made many trips to places around the world. They also enjoyed spending winters in Hawaii, once the children were grown.

Al also loved to volunteer, knowing the value of giving of yourself. For over 30 years, she was active with the Red Cross blood drives, the Oregon Shakespearean Festival, the Jackson County Genealogy Library, and the noncollegiate sorority Beta Sigma Phi.

She loved visiting with people and through these volunteer activities she touched many lives. She was an avid golfer and member of the Rogue Valley Country Club.

Her passion was genealogy. Other hobbies included sewing and needlework.

She is survived by her four children, Renee (Dreiszus) Martin, Bend, Bob Dreiszus (wife, Annie), Talent, Gwen (Dreiszus) Jarrell (husband Jim), Ashland, and Mark Dreiszus, Talent; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two sisters, Connie Heller and Estelle Brown in Vancouver, Wash.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Ashland, 2004 Siskiyou Blvd, Ashland. Inurnment is at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society.

God will welcome home his angel, 'Al', where she will be forever at rest and loved!
