Jan. 1 2015, Adelita "Della" Fresquez, 88, passed away in Davis, Calif., at her eldest daughter and son-in-law's home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Della was born July 12, 1926, in LeDoux, N.M., to Daniel and Rebecca Abeyta. She was one of six children.

She spent her early years in New Mexico and later moved to Cheyenne, where she married Leopoldo Fresquez. Over the next few years she had five children, one of whom, Paul Fresquez, preceded her in death.

An incredibly strong, courageous, selfless, kind and loving woman, Della dedicated her life to raising her children. As a single mother, she worked many long and hard hours to provide and care for her family. She gave so much and asked for so little in return.

The remaining 35 years of her life were spent living with her two daughters and their spouses in California, where she was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren.

Della is survived by one sister, Bertha Naranjo (spouse Frank) of North Platte, Neb.; three daughters, Julia Martinez (spouse Jose B.) of Davis, Calif., Rose Martinez (spouse Rocky) of Fort Collins, Colo., and Corine Trujillo (spouse Sol D.) of Dana Point, Calif.; one son, Ben Fresquez (spouse Nancy) of Cheyenne; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
