Mrs. Helen Barnwell, 90, formerly of N. Graham Hopedale Road and most recently of Springview Assisted Living, Burlington, died Thursday, January 9, 2015 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.

A native of Orange County, Mrs. Barnwell was the wife of 63 years to the late Ernest Franklin Barnwell and the daughter of the late Eli Grant Combs and the late Amy Watkins Combs.

Mrs. Barnwell was retired from G&K Services and was a lifetime member of Tri-City Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Patton (Landy) of Burlington and Phyllis Stillman of Schertz, TX; granddaughter, Laura Shepanski (Michael) of Burlington; two grandsons, Vance Patton (Megan) of Gibsonville and James Feudner (Jenny) of Iowa; four great-granddaughters, Lindsey Shepanski Dreher (Daniel) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kaitlyn Shepanski, Madison Shepanski, both of Burlington, and Isabel Feudner of Iowa; one great grandson, Warren Feudner, of Iowa; a sister, Opal Gilbert of TX, sisters-in-law, Clara Combs and Martha Jo Combs, both of Burlington; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Barnwell (Betsy) and Currie Barnwell and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Combs; four brothers, Floyd Combs, Cleveland Combs, Herman Combs and Gaither Combs; one son in law, Kurt Stillman; and one brother in law, Ronnie Gilbert.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 12, 2015 from 12:15 to 1:15 pm at Staley Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1:30. Officiating will be Pastor Gary S. Gaydon, II and Pastor Bennie Smith. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
