Benjamin F. Cornell, 77, died at his home, 1144 W. Macon Street, Sunday morning at 10:20 o'clock.
Death was caused by pneumonia after an illness of one week.
He was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, Aug. 27, 1849.
He is survived by one son and one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Sieberz and Hiram A. Cornell, both of Decatur.
Mr. Cornell came to Decatur from Edinburg 12 years ago where he had been engaged in the retail clothing business. He had lived a retired life since coming to Decatur.
He was a member of the Methodist church at Edinburg.
The body was removed to Monsons Chapel, 239 W. Prairie and prepared for burial. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
