Virginia Beach - Herbert William Harris, 85, passed on January 6, 2015.

Herbert was predeceased by wife, Betty Anne Harris; daughter, Marilou Allen; brothers, Burl and Paul Harris; sister, Mary Williams; and parents, Sidney & Cora Harris.

Herbert is survived in loving memory by son, Michael Harris & his wife Kathy; daughter, Rebecca Anne Burrus & her husband Stacy; grandchildren Jeremy & his wife Brittany, Jonathan and Lauren Harris.

Herbert was born and raised in North Carolina and later moved to Norfolk, Virginia. He was an army veteran and POW of the Korean War, a charter member of Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church, a retiree of Sears, a skilled carpenter and crafter, a vegetable gardener (known for his great tasting tomatoes) and a loving, devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather and special friend to many. Herbert was a strong, independent, patient and kind man who expected nothing and appreciated everything.

Friends are welcome to join the family for the burial at Rosewood Memorial Park. 631 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach on Saturday, January 10, 10 a.m.

A memorial service will be held at Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church, 245 S. Rosemont Rd., Virginia Beach on Saturday, January 10, 12 noon. Arrangements are by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com
