William Wallace Chase is the ninth child of ten children born to Joseph Chase Sr. & his first wife Sabra Louise (Wheeler) Chase. Wm also has seven additional siblings from his father's second marriage to Alphia (Bartlett) Goodwin-Jackson-Chase. Yes she was married to three husbands. So Wm has a total of sixteen siblings. Joseph is Alphia's third spouse. Wm married Susan Elizabeth Newcomb on 20 Feb 1851 in Bridgton, Maine. They are 2nd Great Grandparents to our family. Susan's death & burial were unknown as of 27 Sept. 2015. Susan's death certificate has finally been found & she will be connected to the family. Wm & Susan only had one son, Harvey Lewis Chase (1862-1929). We have everything on Harvey but documentation of his birth. There is family speculation that Harvey may have been adopted. But records have not been found to prove or disprove this family here say. We have to say "here say" until we can find some kind of documentation, some kind of proof. There have been some questions about William's full name. We found it through ancestry.com: Maine Birth Records, 1621-1922. According to the census records, Wm. had some interesting occupations: Cordwainer (makes rope), Lumberman, Boot & Shoe Maker, and a Merchant. His death certificate records his occupation as a Retired Merchant. From 1900 to 1907 he seems to have disappeared, until his death in 1907. Their son Harvey lived on to marry & had seven children of his own. Harvey & Mary's marriage record connects them to each of their parents, who's names are on the marriage record. So the family continued & is still growing. With the help of our son Noah. We have been able to trace our Chase Lineage back to Aquila Chase (1618-1670). One source is a book titled: "Seven Generations of the descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase", compiled by John Carroll Chase & George Walter Chamberlain, ISBN: 0-89725-038-9. The papers & research done for this book are kept in trust with The New England Historical & Genealogical Society. Additional Comment: State of Wisconsin didn't actually start registering birth & deaths until 1907. His death certificate only has a registered #4. Hand stamped in the upper right corner the following date: Jan 7 1908. So until someone corrects me. I believe his state file number is #4 with the date of Jan 7, 1908. If anyone has documentation for any corrections or additions, I'll gladly accept any corrections or additions. I Hope this helps other family researchers to the best of my ability.
