William Barnett, his brother John and their families immigrated to Pennsylvania about 1730. William Barnett purchased a large tract of land at the base of the Blue Mountains, "reaching from the forks of Beaver Creek to the top of the Blue Mountains, "where he built his home and established his farm, which he named "Barnett's Conquest" (Todd, 1992).

Came to Paxson Twp( Now West Hanover) in ca1730 with his brother John & their families. The Barnetts located directly at the base of the Blue MT.... Here Mr. Barnett (William) received by deed from William Nott March 4,1739/40 a large tract surveyed by warrant of Jan. 16,1737. Reaching from the forks of Beaver Creek to the top of the Blue MT's, a few miles N W of (now) Linglestown. Here in the Forks, William built , for that day, a large Log house, which still stands firm and solid today. The farm, "Barnett's Conquest" was devised by will to Joseph by his father William on April 3 1752. This tract was resurveyed to Joseph Barnett in 1763. Joseph lived on "Barnett's Conquest" where all his children were born.

In 1791 Joseph conveyed the land to his son Moses Barnett. In 1793 Moses's brothers John, Josep, James and Thomas quit claimed to him "all rights" to the land.

Isaac Moorhead a grandson of Moses Barnett lived with his grand parents on "Barnett's Conquest" when he was young, and revisited the old home, still standing, in 1869.
