Our dear husband, father, and grandfather passed away on December 22, 2014 while surrounded by loving family.

He was the youngest of thirteen children born to Charles Henry Aiken and Mary Gudmundson on May 20, 1925 in Springville.

He grew up in a hard-working family and carried that work ethic to the end. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, where he played basketball and football. He enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the Riverside Country Club in Provo.

He was a member of Rotary International and loved watching BYU sports. Upon high school graduation, he joined the Merchant Marines, becoming an Officer during WWII.

He married Betty Gray on August 8, 1945 in the Logan Temple. Together, they raised six children in a close-knit family, leaving behind a legacy of many happy memories.

Leon worked in the Dairy business, becoming a manager of Cream O' Weber Dairy and as an Insurance Agent for Farmer's Insurance.

After Betty passed away, Leon found happiness again when he met and married Lianne Gibson on March 19, 1987 in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed twenty-seven years together.

Leon was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he loved the Lord and serving Him and his fellow men. He served in Bishoprics and as a Branch President. He loved reading and studying the Book of Mormon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eleven brothers and sisters; his wife, Betty; son, Terry; and son-in-law, Sam Kershaw. He is survived by his wife, Lianne; children, Cheryl (Phil) Glenn, Nan (Ross) Gardner, Larry (Kathy) Aiken, Chris (Steve) Neidig, and Deana (Dick) Wilkinson; step-children, Ted (Lisa) Alexander, Phillip Alexander, and Stephanie (Gordon) Fleming; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and brother, Chet (Nadine) Aiken.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Cottonwood Second Ward Chapel, 2080 East 5165 South, Holladay. A visitation prior to the services will be held from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m.
