Lovell Dayle Ashlock, 86, formerly from Halfway, Mo. passed from this life to be with the Lord on Jan. 7, 2015.

Lovell was born on Aug. 18, 1928 to Luther and Minnie (Voris) Ashlock near Halfway. He grew up with his 3 brothers and a sister on a farm where he learned and loved the farm life. He never lost that love for the simple life on the farm. His fondest memories are from working with teams of horses used on the farm.

Lovell was saved at Goodson Missionary Baptist church during a revival in the early 1950’s. He was baptized in Lindley Creek, and joined Goodson Church before moving his membership to Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Lovell served in the Korean War as a member of the US Army in a tank battalion. After returning home from the war, he was united in marriage to Vera Ann (Fulbright) Ashlock. Three children were born from this union, daughter Karen and sons Roger and Dennis. They raised their children on the family farm near Halfway. Lovell worked and retired from MFA Producers Grocery warehouse in Springfield in 1980. The couple retired from farming in 1993. But they kept on going after retirement, always there to lend a helping hand if needed.

He is proceeded in death by his loving wife Vera who passed in 2008. Also, a son Roger who passed in 1996, three brothers, Harold, Willard and Harley and a sister, Thelma Newland and his parents, Luther and Minnie.

Lovell is survived by a daughter, Karen and husband Anthony Shimkus, Jr., grand-daughter Christy and husband Brian Cobb and great-grand daughter Brittney Cobb, all of Springfield. Also surviving is a son, Dennis and wife Nina Ashlock of Arkansas, grandson Ryan and wife Lila Ashlock, great-grand daughters Jessica, Isabelle and Kailyn, great-grandsons Andrew, Trevor James, Brendon and Caleb all of Arizonia, grandson Danial and wife Angie Ashlock, Great-grandson Hunter, all of Indiana, grand-daughter Alexis Ashlock, great-grandson Levi, great-grand-daughter Emily, all of Arkansas, grand-daughter Nicole Ashlock of Arkansas, grandson Trevor Wayne and wife Nikki Ashlock, Great-grandson Glendon, all of Arkansas, and a host of nieces and nephews, countless other family and friends.
