Doris Jeane Newell, age 75 of rural Charleston, passed away with her loving family at her bedside on Wednesday morning, August 6 (2003) at her home.

Doris was born December 21, 1927 in Charleston, Illinois the daughter of Roy and Mabel (Fasig) Endsley. On August 18, 1945 she married Dale Newell in Charleston.

She is survived by Dale, her loving husband of fifty-seven years; one son, Terry Ray Newell and his wife Debbie of Charleston; one daughter, Connie Ghibellini and her husband Ted, also of Charleston; five grandchildren, Matt Newell of Champaign, Illinois and Jon Newell, April Furry, Ashley Ghibellini and Amanda Ghibellini, all of Charleston; three sisters, Barbara Replogle and her husband Clinton and Norma Logue, all of Charleston and Janet Scribner of Champaign; one brother, Larry Endsley and his wife Jan of Charleston; several nieces and nephews, and; special friends, Joy, Betty, Beverly and Jeannie. She was preceded by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Doris was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston and Eastern Star Chapter #774 in Kansas (IL). Many will remember her as a Catalog Customer Service Representative at the Charleston Sears, Roebuck Company store. She enjoyed making ceramics and traveling with Dale.
Doris was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a proud and doting grandmother whose grandchildren were the "joy of her life", a wonderful sister treasured by Norma, Janet, Barbara and Larry and a loyal and dear friend to many. That love was returned in abundance by her family and friends and was exemplified through their compassionate support and presence throughout her courageous battle with Cancer.
