Mr. Rodgers was born in Greencastle, Ind., September 26, 1869. At and early age he moved to Macon, Ga., and identifying himself with the Southern Express company while still a very young man, he rose rapidly to the responsible position which he held at the time of his death. He was well known in South Carolina and adjoining States, and was held in especially high esteem by the employees of his company.
Twelve years ago Mr. Rodgers married Miss Massey of Albany, Ga., and he is survived by her and four children - Carolina, Elizabeth, Eleanor and Lewis.
The funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at the residence, Rev. T. G. Herbert, pastor of the Main Street Methodist church, will officiate at the residence and Rev. K. G. Finlay will conduct the services at the interment in Elmwood cemetery. The services at the cemetery will be in charge of the Elks and the pallbearers will be selected from that organization.
Mr. Rogers was a man whom his friends both admired and respected. He was a man of splendid business ability as was clearly shown by his rapid advance with the Southern Express company.
