Adin served in the Civil War
the 63rd, company G, Indiana Volunteers. Adin Nordyke first enlisted as a Private in company “D”, 63rd Indiana Volunteers on about the 10th of February 1862, and served as such until some time in July of that year, when he was detached as a recruiting Officer. He helped in raising men for company G, and was elected its 2nd Lieutenant in the early part of August of 1862, and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, and commissioned as such on the 4th of May, 1864, and was commissioned as Captain of the 63rd, company G on the 7th day of September 1864 after Captain John Holloway became disabled and sent home. Adin served as Captain of the 63rd, company G until the end of the war.
