He was united in marriage to Phoebe A. Mundy Dec. 14, 1882 and to this union were born nine children, namely Lawrence, Everett, Mary Malisie, Albert Lee, Frank Pierce, Julia Man, an unnamed son, John Henry, Marie Ethel and Charles Elmer.
Seven have preceded him in death, leaving two, Albert Lee Mason and Julia May Ginther, both of St. Louis, along with his loving companion, Phoebe A. Mason; a dear sister, Susan Carter; eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
"Uncle John" as he was generally known, led a straight moral life. His motto was "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you". He has always been a regular attendant at church and Sunday school.
