Philip was the son of Henry H. Bridenbaugh & Susanna Sprankle.

Philip graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1877.

He married Catharine H Oellig, 18 Dec 1878, Martinsbug, Blair Co., PA.

According to the 1910 census, Philip's wife Catharine had given birth to 14 children. The names of 13 are known: Charles Sumner; Emma Blanche (Loch); Joseph O.; Carl Griffith; Susan Catharine (Myers); Monica (Beck); Philip H.; Eva Lydia; Lillian Grace (Bassler); Anna Alice (Bolger); Edith Mae (Clyde); Louis J; & Sarah Marguerite (Snyder).

According to his death certificate, he had been a professor. This agrees with census records. Census records also show that in 1910, he was Steward of the Alms House.
