Adamae Roosevelt of Carmi, Illinois died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi, Illinois after a brief illness.
Roosevelt was a graduate of McKendree University. She was a retired teacher from service in the Carmi School District. Roosevelt was a leader in the District teachers association and held leadership roles in her the IEA and State IEA. She was active in fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Roosevelt was an ardent supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment and had participated in rallies in support of that Amendment and numerous rallies in support of fair funding for local schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Roosevelt, parents Lyman Weber and Emma Christy Weber, as well as her brother, Merrill, and a grandson, Nick.
Surviving are a son, Greg and his wife, Brenda of Glen Carbon, two grandchildren, Alex of Glen Carbon and Catherine of Colorado Springs, a son, Dan of Carbondale, a sister, Margaret Jean Shupe of Carrollton, sisters in law, Wanda Ackerman of Carmi, Mary Fenton of Carlinville and a brother in law, Wilbur Roosevelt of Decatur.
