George R. Brinnon, age 91, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by his loving daughter, two grandsons and close family. He was born September 5, 1923 in Grantville the son of Charles C. “Jack” and Delpha Baldwin Brinnon. George married Marie C. Miller December 17, 1943 at the North Topeka Baptist Church. George worked at Sante Fe Railroad for over 40 years as a carman and a welder and also spent many years throwing papers for the Topeka Capital Journal. His interests included fishing (especially with cousin Keith Brinnon), woodworking, and gardening. “Grandpa”, or “dad” loved not only his family, but he had a special bond with his dog Skippy and cat Tiger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marie C. Brinnon May 20 of 1996, brother, Eugene Brinnon, infant daughter, Barbara Jean Brinnon, daughter, Patricia (Brinnon) Roberds and her husband Ron Roberds. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Stadler and her husband Michael of Topeka; granddaughter, Melissa Stadler and her fiance Mike Williamson of Merkel, TX, grandson, Phillip Stadler and his wife Suzie Stadler of Olathe; 3 great grandchildren, Henry, Louis and Josephine Stadler of Olathe; grandson, Wes Roberds and his wife Charissa Roberds of Topeka; four great grandchildren, Mikayla, Ryan, Jacob and Katelyn; and one great great grandchild, Collin of Topeka. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. at the Grantville Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday before the services at the Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rolling Hills Retirement Community and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
