She was the daughter of George Dervin and Mary Lee Jernigan Earp. She was born on November 22, 1918 in Beechgrove, Coffee County, Tennessee. Ruth was the youngest of eight children, Alton Jackson, Jimmie Sue Taylor, Lula Peral, Bryant Starnes, Lillian Helen McLane, William Matthew and Ora Whysong Winterrowd.
Her family moved to Wise County, Texas in September of 1920, then to Crosby County in December of 1928 and to Lubbock in 1942.
Ruth worked for Wilson & Company, Hall Produce and 20 years with Lubbock I.S.D before retiring.
She was a member of the Church of the Harvest Assembly of God. Ruth is survived by nieces and nephews. In Lubbock are Joyce and Durwood Finley.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
