William Lester Habegger, 95, Berne, passed away on Sunday, December, 21, 2014 at his Swiss Village home. He was born to Joseph and Mary(Nussbaum)Habegger on November 19, 1919 near Berne and grew up on a farm south of Monroe. He married Agnes Sprunger on Apil 16, 1941. Together they lived a beautiful love story of 73 years.

Bill was a member of the Berne Evangelical Church, where he served in many capacities over the years. Bill worked at The Kroger Company, Fort Wayne Bible College, Taylor University, Unified Church Structures, Rainbow Construction, and Don Ray Drive-A-Way, among other involvements. He loved golfing, stamp collection, playing table games with family, reading, hosting church activities at their lakeside home, and being a Rotarian. He was a life-long learner, very forward thinking, and always reaching ahead. He and Agnes enjoyed traveling and were able to visit all 50 states and many countries around the world. Bill was very involved in the birth of Swiss Heritage Village, serving as an early president and board member for a number of years. He loved the lord deeply and walked faithfully with him all his life, sharing this priceless legacy with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as with all who knew him.

He is survived by his dearly-loved wife Agnes; children, Judy(Milt)Fricke of Kahului, Hawaii; Ro(Jim)Hinzdel of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Cary(Pauline)Habegger of Lebanon, Pa.; grandchildren, Matthew(Katharine)Fricke of Harrisburg, Oregon; Scott(Melissa)Fricke of Aliso Viejo, California; Greg Fricke of Durham, N.C.; Heidi(Jeremiah)Sensenig of Wyomissing, Pa., Lisa(Nate)Kelly of North Charleston, S.C.; Peter(Josina)Habegger of San Francisco, California; Jenny(Wally)Hirsch of Santa Monica, California; Megan Hinzdel of Spokane, Washington; great-grandchildren, Lisa Fricke, Cole Sensenig, Bella Fricke, Jack Kelly, Jacob Fricke, Owen Kelly. He is also survived by siblings Edith(Paul)Augsburger of Berne and Herman(Esther)Habegger of Indianapolis, In.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Habegger and by brothers Harve(Mary) and Ed(Grace)Habegger.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 9-11 a.m. at the Swiss Village Chapel. Additional visitation will be at Berne Evangelical Church Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 1:30. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
