Life's Work/Service/Interests: On August 12, 1957, he married Deanna "Candy" Waite in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He attended the University of Utah and received a degree in Chemical Engineering. He obtained a Masters Degree from the Oakridge School of Technology. While there, Dee worked with a team building the first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus. He later received a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in Nuclear Engineering. Dee was a renowned scientist who worked at the nuclear site in Idaho and at Offshore Power Systems in Jacksonville, Florida, for many years. He retired from SAIC in Las Vegas in 2002. Dee was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many capacities including Bishop and as a member of the Stake Presidency in Jacksonville. He could often be found in the garden with his dogs or in his favorite chair reading his books. He loved the scriptures and they were always his companion. Not only did he know them, he lived them. Dee loved to travel, often using many circuitous routes much to the family's dismay, such as the night they got lost in a corn field in Iowa. The grandchildren loved the wild Sunday afternoon drives with Papa Dee, never knowing what new adventure awaited them. Dee loved his family very much and was proud of all of their achievements. Dee H. Walker, of Alpine, Utah, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014. He was 84.
