Maggie Lewis Bliss was an immigrant from Wales. She later settled in Endicott and was the cook/baker for JULIA AND ALPHONSUS BOWES. Later in life she opened a Tea Shop in Endicott with her brother David Lewis. She married 2nd, Sam Rush who operated a barbershop. Her story is one of survival. As a young woman with two small boys, her husband Edwin Bliss went out to get bread and never returned. To survive she ran a Boarding House in Susquehanna PA. Later she moved to Endicott and worked as a baker for E-J, before working for the Bowes.
