Pearl I. Hosier, 96, of Anderson, died April 14, 2006, at St. John's Medical Center, following an extended illness.

She was born May 17, 1909, in Alexandria, the daughter of George and Lucy Ellen (Ervin) Gipe. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County.

In 1969, she retired from Delco Remy after 33 years of service. She had been a member of the former Y-Owls of Anderson; the Oaks Senior Citizen Center and the Rangeline Community Center.

Survivors include her son, James D. (wife, Peggy) Hosier of Pendleton; two daughters, Barbara Robinson of Anderson and Peggy (husband, Bob) Paynter of Okeechobee, FL; daughters-in-law, Vera Hosier and Jane Hosier, both of Anderson, and Barbara Hosier of Bradenton, FL; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Betty Pierce of Alexandria.

Mrs. Hosier was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Hosier; sons, Jack Hosier, Gene Hosier and Danny Hosier; and five brothers.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mares and the nurses on sixth south of St. John's Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care of Mrs. Hosier during her illness.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Revs. Jim Jones, Sue Jones and Mike Robbins. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Christian Center in Anderson.
