MORTON COUNTY PIONEER WOMAN TAKEN BY DEATH
Funeral services held Sunday at Christian Church

Mrs. May Burton died Friday of last week at her home east of Elkhart from the effects of influenza.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the Christian Church in Elkhart with Rev. W.D. Darnall, pastor of the church officiating. Mrs. John McCormick and Mrs. Darnall sang three duet numbers. The pallbearers were chosen from among neighbors and old friends of the family, and included A.J. Gerber, Archie Cyr, T.E. Lewis, Ernest Lavielle, Logan Holmes and Ben Roll.

Interment was made in the Elkhart Cemetery immediately following the service. The Peacock Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burton and her husband have been residents of this community for many years, having pioneered here among the early residents, and because of this fact grief over her loss is shared by the entire community, many of whom are friends of long standing.

Minnie Cobb Burton

Mrs. Minnie Cobb Burton was born near Frazier, Buchanan Co., MO, April 9, 1871, and passed away at her home near Elkhart, Nov 22, 1935 at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 13 days.

Her parents, one brother, two sisters and a granddaughter preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to May Burton, Dec 2, 1896. To this union one son, Castle, was born.

She came to Morton Co April 1907. She united with the Christian Church at the age of nineteen years and has lived a Christian life ever since, being a member of the Christian Church at Elkhart at the time of her death. She was a loving wife and mother and friend to all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, son Castle and wife, a grandson, one brother and a host of friends.
