DeWitt was born November 24, 1912 on the Liston Farm south of Wills Point to John Egbert Deen and Duron Turner Deen. After graduating from Wills Point High School in 1931, he began his lifelong career of farming and ranching. On April 11, 1941, he married Mary Sue Hall of Canton. DeWitt served on the boards of the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau, Van Zandt County Appraisal District and for twenty-five years served Kaufman Van Zandt Rockwall Soil & Water Conservation District. He belonged to the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association for many years. DeWitt was a member of First Baptist Church in Wills Point for more than ninety years.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Sue Hall Deen; sister, Thelma Lee Deen Hanson; brother, Jack Egbert Deen and grandson, Trevor Dan Deen.
