Mustered In, January 9, 1862, Camp Yates, ILL. 3 Years
I show that he was born 8 Jun 1845 in Golconda, Pope County, Illinois, but it's possible my data could be a year off. On the other hand, that tombstone appears to be pretty hard to read.
I show that Samuel married Martha Ann Boaz on 4 Sep 1863 in Ridgway, Gallatin County, Illinois. A second marriage date is: Married: 12 Sep 1867 in Gallatin Co., IL
I show he died 28 Jul 1885 in Ridgway, Gallatin County, Illinois.
Samuel was the son of John Franklin Hemphill and Mary Eliza Glass.
