John La Manna, 87, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Waterview Center in Cedar Grove, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the O'Boyle Funeral Home, 309 Broad St., Bloomfield, N.J., on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment is at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, N.J. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Bloomfield, N.J., Mr. La Manna lived in Bloomfield for most of his life, moving to Fairfield, N.J., 12 years ago. He was a machinist with the Damas Tool Co. in Springfield, N.J. Mr. La Manna served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and participated in the action against the enemy at Iwo Jima. He was a member of the VFW Miles Suarez Post in Bloomfield. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Dot) Jenkins La Manna for 53 years; father of John Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Glen Gardner, N.J.; Mark and his wife, Dawn, of Fairfield, N.J.; Ronald Economy of South Jersey and Janet Zieser and her husband, Arthur, of Toms River, N.J. He was the brother of Frances Burkhardt, Rosemary Colewell, Betty Jane Stefanelli, Georgette Twiss and the late Anna Peyronel, Julie "Dolly" Simonet, Joseph LaManna and Vincie Marasco and grandfather of Mark, Nicole, Tim, Scott, Caitlyn, Colleen and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
