Mrs. Ethel Alderson, 92, of Girard died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Hill Village, Girard.
She was born Dec. 26, 1897, in Manchester, the daughter of Simon and Charlotte Sperry Herron. She married Lloyd Alderson in 1916 in Springfield, and he died in 1964. Mrs. Alderson was a member of Girard First Christian Church; past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge; past member of Royal Neighbors Lodge; past president of CWF of Girard First Christian Church; and for many years was a member of the Nilwood Homemakers Extension.
Surviving are two sons, Ebert "Lee" of Virden and William of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; two daughters, Charlotte Fererro of Girard and Mary Lou Powers of Glendale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mabel Miller and Clara Bender, both of Springfield, and Edna Davis of Jacksonville, Fla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Girard First Christian Church, with the Rev. George Dudley officiating. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery.
Berry Funeral Home, Girard, is in charge of arrangements.
