Herron - Ocea Lionel, son of Simon and Lottie Herron, at their home three miles east of Modesto, of pneumonia, on Jan. 28, 1899. Age 3 yrs. 11 mos. 17 days.
The remains were brought to Waverly, where, in the home of J. M. Sperry the funeral service was conducted by Rev. White, of the Baptist church, and the little one laid away in East cemetery.
"A child, more than all other gifts that earth can offer to declining man, brings hope with it, and forward looking thoughts."
How many lives have been thus brightened; then, like a little sunbeam, the little one disappeared - the flower was transplanted that it might evade the wintry storm and tempest.
"And the mother gave in tears and pain, the flower she most did love, she knew she should see it safe again, in the field of light above."
The bereaved have the sympathy of many true friends.
