Miss Ollie Amelia Cornett, 62, passed away at the home of a niece, Mrs. Howard Bourne, near Spring Valley, on Thursday afternoon March 7, about 12:30 o'clock, after having been ill for several months.
The deceased woman was a daughter of the late Frank Cornett and wife, Mrs. Jane Daniel Cornett, of the Summerfield community.
Surviving are two brothers, E. J. Cornett, Galax, and E. W. Cornett, Fork, W. Va. and a half-sister, Mrs. Nannie Boyer, Fries.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, at eleven o'clock, in Summerfield Methodist Church, on the Spring Valley charge, by the pastor, Rev. Mr. Farmer.
The Rev. Mr. Farmer read selections from the old and new testaments, offered a prayer, and made an appropriate talk with reference to the life of the deceased.
During the service the choir sang "Nearer, My God, To Thee”, "Abide With Me”, "Death Is Only A Dream”, "I Will Sing You a Song of That Beautiful Land" and “Shall We Gather At The River”.
Pallbearers were: Paul Atkins, Con Daniel, Claude Hall, Walter Sage, Miley Burris and Scott Cornett.
Flowerbearers were: Mrs. Miley Burris and Misses Bessie Bourne, Edythe Hall and Lily Mae Burris.
The body was interred in the family plot in Summerfield Cemetery.
