Blondell Smith Abrams, 88, of Leland, NC went to her heavenly home on December 8, 2014.
Mrs. Abrams was the daughter of John Bryant Smith and Rosa Lee Permenter Smith. She was born in Raleigh, NC on March 1, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 63 years, James Kenneth Abrams, a daughter, Linda Kay Abrams Militello and a son, Terry Wesley Abrams.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee Hummel and Tena Marie Bien (Gary), three sisters, Faydene Corbett, Mickey Turlington, and Janis Stone. Two brothers, Jay Smith and Ray Smith, and one sister, Peggy Lockamy preceded her in death. Mrs. Abrams had six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
After marrying her Marine in 1945, they moved to St. Louis where they lived until 1980. While in St. Louis, her children were born. She was very active in her children's school life, including service as President of the Mother's Club. Later, she had a successful business, was a charter member of the American Society of Tax Consultants and owned Metro Tax Service until she and her husband moved to Leland, NC. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Andrews Mortuary's Market Street Chapel.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Andrews Mortuary's Market Street Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014. Officiating at the service will be Reverend Dodd Mays and Reverend Mike Morley. Special music will be provided by Reverend Randy Speight. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
