Mrs. Catherine Mayer dies at age of 59 years. A letter started Saturday from Columbus on its long journey to the Philippines for the 17th regiment to notify four brothers that their mother Catherine Mayer had died on Friday of Bright's disease, at the residence 557 Edwards street. Long before it reaches them she will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. During the war she was a nurse in the national hospital, Washington, and her husband was fighting in the Union Army. He is now retired after a service of 30 years. In that time, they traveled from one post to another, and they completed the circle of Uncle Sam's barracks. Besides the four sons, three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Libbert, Mrs. Nellie Lehrke and Mrs. Margaret Wendle and a husband survive. The funeral will take place Monday morning at 8 o'clock from St. Patrick's church.
