John Stauber was born in 1884 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, the first-born child of Christian Stauber, Sr. and Ida M. Albrecht Stauber Haglage. He only lived for about a year. He had four siblings.

John died in Cincinnati on June 26, 1885 and is buried in the same cemetery, Saint Mary, as his father.
