AUBURNDALE - Mrs. Lillian Porter Dull, age 97, a resident of Auburndale passed away of natural causes Sunday, January 18, 2009 at her home with her daughters by her side.
Mrs. Dull was born April 16, 1911 in Palestine, Texas to Charles Mullis and Lucinda (Nixon) Porter. Lillian was a lifetime Polk County resident for over 95 years. She worked and retired as a Line Supervisor for Continental Can Company. During World War II while her husband was in the war she sent troops boxes of goodies and she worked at Waverly Garage and Waverly Growers. Lillian graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1934, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She attended the American Legion Tea Dances every Wednesday. She attended Saint Alban's Episcopal Church in Auburndale. She and her brother Charles loved to dance at the Eagle Lake Pavilion, as you can see she loved to dance. She was of the Methodist Faith.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Walter Dull; 2 sisters: Lou Davidsen and Mabel Douglas and 2 brothers: John David Porter and Ulysses Porter. Mrs. Dull is survived by her wonderful family: 3 Daughters: Margaret Jane (Ralph) Hanick of Winter Haven, FL., Nickey (Russell) Sprung of Port Charlotte, FL., Sharon D. (Samuel) Katanich of Winter Springs, FL., 1 Brother: Charles (Blanche) Porter of Titusville, FL., Sister-in-Law: Tess Jane Dull of Winter Haven, FL., Brother-in-Law: Harley Dull of Melrose, FL., 9 Grandchildren: Jim (Christine) Hanick of Winter Haven, FL., Jane (Brent) Meadows of Auburndale, FL., Kathy Jane (Tom) Stephenson of Green Bay, WI., James C. (Lisa) Sprung of Ocala, FL., Susan Woodford of Fernandina Beach, FL., Daniel W. (Jennifer) Sprung of Ocala, FL., Samuel (Allison) Katanich, III of Atlanta, GA.,
Jeff Katanich of Orlando, FL., Eric (Kourtney) Katanich of Apopka, FL., 11 Great Grandchildren: Amber, Logan, Steven, Aaron, Collin, Mark, Daniel, Curtis Porter, Elijah, Lucas and Emily. Lillian's most special friend: P.C. Fox of Vero Beach, FL.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Kersey Funeral Home, 108 East Lake Stella Drive, Auburndale. (863) 967-1167.
A registration and visitation with Lillian's family will be held before services from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
