Born Jan. 16, 1920, in Elmwood to Charles A. and Mabel Wiley Adams, he married Tommie Elizabeth Steadman in 1945. She died in 1950 in Peoria. He married Ruth M. Hill on July 2, 1952, in Bloomington. She died in February 1984 in Peoria. One son, Charles, one daughter, Sharon Porter, two brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Donovan of Pekin, Patricia Puryear of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Jeannie Gill of Southhaven, Miss.; one son, Donald Doty of Grand Prairie, Texas; two brothers, Donald of Peoria Heights and Alfred of Knoxville; and five sisters, Frances Adams of Peoria, Janet Williams, Sarah Lynch and Judy Olin, all of Knoxville, and Sharon Steck of Galesburg.
He owned and operated Adams Upholstery Shop in Peoria Heights.
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
