Erik lived in Lodz, Poland at Zeromski, 11 with his family before the war. After the establishment of the ghetto he moved into the Lodz Ghetto with his mother and siblings. They lived at Drukarska 18 flat 12. His maternal grandmother also lived with them at the same address.
In September of 1942, during the gehsperre action, Dobruchna and her twin brother, Erik, were exempted from deportation. They would remain in the ghetto until 1944. On 5 July 1944, Erik was deported with transport 81, to Chelmno Extermination Camp. He was one of the 700 people killed in the gas vans.
