Born June 30, 1905, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John S. and Anna B. (Hilderbrand) Moore. She married Carl E. Briggs on Aug. 20, 1927. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1988.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Ann Barlow of Shelby County; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brown of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Donna Thurston of Shelbyville, Cindy Guerrini of Indianapolis and Elaine Williams of Shelby County; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Moore, and two sisters, Gladys McCollum and Minnie Scott.
Mrs. Briggs retired in 1980 from Tippecanoe Press and previously was employed at Jesters Department Store.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Naamah Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 73, Major Hospital Guild and a member of honor and honorary grandmother of Bethel No. 37 Job's Daughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St., with the Rev. Larry Scott officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an O.E.S. service at 7:30 p.m., today at the funeral home.
