"As I Remember My Great-grandfather, Obadiah B. Robinson", by Addison Ford Oates.

They called him "Obe" and he was born 18 June 1851 in Rusk County, Texas. He was a twin to Ann Elizabeth. His parents were Rev. William Robinson and Irena Isabel Brent. Obadiah was the second child in a family of six children, having two brothers and three sisters. At birth he was christened Obadiah Robinson, and according to his children he added the B. later in life. Obe stood six feet, one inch, and weighed one hundred and sixty pounds when he was eighty years old.

Obadiah B. Robinson married Kathryn Stephens. Her father and mother were William H. Stephens and Christian Hoback. Obe had eleven children by this first marriage, and Annie Lucinda Jane is his oldest child. There were seven girls and four boys. After Kathryn passed away, 10 February 1893, Obe married Permelia Ann McDonald. To this marriage was born seven children, five boys and two girls. Obe was twenty years older than his second wife, and all his children by his two wives were born over a period of thirty-nine years. I knew all these children and their families personally, except for the four who passed away before my time or before I was old enough to remember.

It was with these families and others, that we gathered on the banks of the river, north and west of Throckmorton, Texas, to hold the Robinson Reunion in honor of Obadiah B. Robinson. Great-grand-dad, Obe, would preach a sermon at the reunion each year. I can remember hearing him preach as if it were yesterday. He was snow white headed with a long white beard. He was the only child that followed in his father's, Rev. William "Choctaw Bill" Robinson, footsteps and became a minister.

He lived to be ninety-five years old and now lies at rest beside his first wife, Kathryn, in Baggett Creek Cemetery, in Comanche County, Texas. His father also lies at rest in this same cemetery. I visited their graves in the spring of 1962, and found their resting place well marked, with nice large markers. There is no inscription on Rev. Obadiah B. Robinson's and Kathryn's markers, except for names and dates, but inscribed on Rev. William Robinson's marker are these words, "At Rest In Heaven." Supplied by Lonestar #47672736
