Lillian Lavada Smith, 91, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at a nursing home in Winters, Texas. She was born to John Thomas Aylor and Saphronia Lee Aylor on October 13, 1914, in Eden, Texas, and attended school in Oakville, Texas. Lillian was married to Odis Bascum Smith on June 29, 1935, in Ranger, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1983.

A retired nurse's aide and ward clerk, she had worked at High Plains Nursing Home in Borger. In 1985, Lillian moved from Borger to Abilene, where she was a very active member of Bethel Temple Christian Center.

Lillian was also preceded in death by three sons, Bobby B. Smith, Emmett Smith and Dan Garland Smith; her parents; two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Koch Newsom and her husband, J. Ronald, of Winters, and Debra Ann Mars and husband John Scott, of Borger; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Lavon Aylor of Olney, and five sisters, Laverne Strickland of Weatherford, Loreta Holmes of Harrell, Elizabeth Graves of Olney, Juanita Cox of Georgia, and Martha Branch of Bakersfield, California.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Rev. Frank Estes officiating. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Albany Cemetery in Albany, Texas. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
