Mrs. Eva J. Rivera Buried Saturday
Mrs. Eva J. Rivera, a lifelong resident of the Encino Area, passed away in a hospital in Denver, Colorado, May 4th after a short illness, at the age of 68.
Mrs. Rivera had gone to Red Cliff, Colorado, to visit her daughter Oralia and son-in-law Ignacio Archibeque, and her son and family, Evaristo and Rosie Rivera, when she became ill.
Rosary for Mrs. Rivera was recited by Frank Chavez Jr., Friday evening at the Family Home in Encino. Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with burial following in the Encino Catholic Cemetery.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church and the Encino Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose C. Rivera, who passed away in Sept. 1978, infant daughter, Lydia Inez. Survivors include five sons, Elijio ( Emma)Lucero of Encino, Adan (Juanita)Rivera of Silver City, Robert(Marviline) and Ismael (Mary Helen)Rivera of Albuquerque, and Evaristo (Rosie)Rivera of Red Cliff, Colorado; one daughter, Oralia (Ignacio)Archibeque of Red Cliff, Colorado; one grandson/son, Joey (Loretta)Rivera, whom she and her late husband raised as their own; 27 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Avelina Aguilar of Albuquerque, Mrs. Emma Aguilar of Las Cruces, Mrs. Librada Garcia of Encino; one brother, Frank Jaramillo of Roswell; three Aunts, Mrs. Adela Chavez of Encino, Mrs. Carlota Garcia of Albuquerque, Mrs. Irene Vigil of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Serving as PallBearers were Ernest Lucero, Marty Rivera, Bill Rivera, James Rivera, Tom Archibeque, and Jim Tafoya.
