Irene K. Johnson, 92, of Piper City, IL., died at 5:00 A.M. Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Piper City Rehab & Living Center, Piper City, IL.

Her funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Presbyterian Church, Piper City with Rev. Wade Ditty officiating.

Burial will be in the Brenton Cemetery, Piper City.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home in Piper City. Also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Women's Association, Iroquois Memorial Hospice or Piper City Food Pantry.

Irene was born in Sibley, IL., to Fredrick and Bertha (Trebes) Pretzlaff. Her childhood was spent in the Sibley area. She graduated from Sibley High School in 1940. She was a homemaker. Irene married August LaVern Johnson on October 3, 1942 in Austin, Texas. He died on Sept. 21, 2010.

Surviving children are - Ann Brown of Tinley Park, IL., Jim (Anne) Johnson of Piper City, Bonnie Wood of Lake Forrest, CA., and Jane Richardson of Mount Vernon, IL. Five grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren - Gina Galdikas, Julie Wright, Mark VanRyne, Matt Richardson, Sarah Richardson, Craig Schlatter, Abby Schlatter and Karen Schlatter, Six Great-Grandchildren - Ethan, Ryan, Faith, Brady, Teagan and Colton. One sister - Irma Netherton of Hot Springs, Arkansas

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters - Tessie and Ruth and two brothers - Francis and Eldon.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Piper City. Irene was a lifelong Die Hard Cubs Fan. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her pets.
