Ruth Christensen was the daughter of Fred and Bertha Trebes Pretzlaff. She married George O. Christensen in 1941. He died in 1969.
Mrs. Christensen and her husband owned and operated Christensen Christmas Tree Farm. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Springfield Civic Garden Club and was a member and past president of Lincoln Memorial Garden. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was named the American Red Cross volunteer of the year in 2001.
Survivors: four daughters, Alice Christensen (companion, Thomas Payne, Gail Coleman, Karen (husband, Terry) Proffitt and Nora (husband, Jim) Beattie, two sons, Dennis (wife, Mildred) Christensen and Tom Christensen, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Irma (husband, Leland) and Irene (husband, LaVerne) Johnson.
