Peachie was the first child of Solomon Wyatt and Mary Alice (Smith) Wyatt. She was born in Randolph County, West Virginia. She married John H. Purkey and was the mother of James Purkey. Peachie was 19 years old when she died of Septicemia (blood poisoning). She was buried in Alpena, Randolph County, West Virginia where she resided. Although a cemetery name has not been verified, she may be buried in the Wyatt Family Cemetery located just outside of Alpena. If she is buried here - she does not have a cemetery marker as is the case of most people buried in this cemetery.

Peachie's illness may have been due to child birth. There is a record of a stillborn infant Purkey

This baby girl's parents were not listed on the death record. The baby was stillborn on the same day that Peachy Purkey came under the doctor's care for her illness. She died 25 days later and is listed on the death record on line 40. The baby is on line 38.
