L. G. Green was born March 21, 1941 to Bert & Mollie (Roberts) Green in the Gum Springs community of Hughes County, Oklahoma. He was raised and went to school in the Gum Springs area. He loved to ride horses, but his real love of animals was his hound dogs. He loved to go coon hunting with his buddies and teach them young ones how them hounds treed them coons. Everyone knew L. G. from his chew in his cheek. Not everyone knew that he was quite the dancer and singer, too. He loved going to Calvin’s ‘Play Days’ and visit with all his old and many new friends. He never met a stranger, the more friends he had, the happier he was. He worked many years in the oil field, and driving road graders for Hughes County. He could run just about any equipment put in front of him. He retired from employment with the City of Holdenville and went to work on the farm for Dale Turner, taking care of cows and working the hay fields, till he couldn’t work any more. L. G. loved his family, his nieces and nephews. When he lost Allie, the Love of His Life, he was lost. L. G. passed away in Holdenville on Monday, November 17, 2014, at the age of 73 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert & Mollie Green; three sisters: Geraldine Horn, Edna Conley, and Peggy Hale; three brothers: Jimmy Green, Jan Green, and Buddy Green.
